Winter Formal 2024!

WE ARE SO EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THE DETAILS FOR LCC’S 2024 WINTER FORMAL!

Please read all details, as there are important deadlines pertaining to ticket sales, bus contracts, and guest passes.

Date: Saturday February 10, 2024

Time: 7-10pm

Location: JOYA Kitchen - 10275 Science Center Dr #150, San Diego, CA 92121

Bus Contracts: All students planning to attend LCC events by private limo/bus must complete this form.

  • Return the original, completed contract to Ms. Solomon in the ASB room (822) before the dance

  • The deadline for submitting the Limo/Bus Contract is the end of lunch the Friday before the dance

  • Upon arriving at the event, students must not exit the limo/bus until an administrator is present to admit them. Students may not leave the event until everyone is accounted for on their vehicle.

  • The parent who has agreed to be the contact person on the date of the event must print and sign his/her name, and provide a cell phone number for contact, in the event of a problem or emergency. 

  • If you need more spaces for names, please print an additional page and staple together.

Guest Passes: It is mandatory for any LCC student bringing a guest to complete and submit a guest pass. These can be picked up in the AP office with Mrs. Jenkins, and turned in to the finance office when purchasing a ticket. Please plan ahead, as the form needs to be signed by administration at LCC and the school of the guest. So, expect about a week to get everything completed. The guest ticket must be purchased by the LCC student who is bringing the guest. Guest tickets are $85, no matter the date purchased.

Homecoming 2023

ASB announced the Homecoming 2023 theme on September 01, 2023 at the pep rally. ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ will be the name of the dance.

Tickets are now on sale:

  • September 18 - September 24: $40 with ASB card, $45 without

  • September 25 - October 1: $45 with ASB card, $50without

  • October 2 - October 6: $50 with ASB card, $55 without

Guest passes are available for $55. Guest contracts must be submitted to the AP Office by lunch on October 4. Dance contracts must be completed online. The Finance Office accepts credit card, cash, and checks payable to: LCC ASB.

Homecoming court nominations are also now open! Each student has until 9/29 to complete this form.

Congrats to the Class of 2023!

The La Costa Canyon High School Class of 2023 graduated on June 2, 2023, surrounded by their classmates, friends, family, peers, staff, and faculty.

Commencement speakers included ASB Presidents Andrew and Shane Baum and Senior Class President Reese Silcox.

ASB extends its deepest appreciation to the preceding Executive Board members, Andrew, Shane, Sasha, Renee, Emma, and Reese: “Thank you for your hard work and dedication this school year. Your successors wish you the best of luck in your future plans. We will miss you.”

Student Body Elects New ASB Executive Board

In a student body election with over 30 candidates running for 11 Associated Student Body offices, La Costa Canyon High School freshmen, sophomores and juniors elected a new Executive Board.

ASB President-elect Mia DiGiulio, junior, previously served as Junior Class President and Sophomore Class President. She will serve alongside ASB Vice President-elect Abigail Baum, sophomore, who currently serves as Sophomore Class President. Baum will succeed her older brothers Shane & Andrew Baum who were the 2022-2023 ASB Co-President.

Tatum Vercoe, junior, will serve as ASB Secretary. Cai Le, junior, will serve as ASB Treasurer. Skyler Young, junior, will serve as School Board Representative. Kimo Oh, junior, will serve as Senior Class President.

Election Committee Chair Shane Baum stated that he is “thrilled” about the new Board and wishes them well next school year.

Disco Fever: Homecoming 2022 Theme Announced

LCC School Board Representative and ASB Executive Board member Sasha Bell was sworn into the San Dieguito Union High School District Board of Trustees on Wednesday, September 14, 2022. She gave her first board report about recent Maverick happenings and upcoming events.

Statement About Recent Targeting of LGBTQIA+ Students in San Dieguito District Community

LCC ASB recognizes the recent discriminatory and hateful comments targeting transgender and LGBTQIA+ individuals from members of the district community. We firmly denounce this behavior and behavior that detrimentally affects student well-being and expression.

We are committed to creating a more inclusive and nurturing student body that provides support to every single Maverick. LCC ASB is currently collaborating with the Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA) to best provide assistance to them, as well as parallel district student clubs & organizations. We are dedicated to diversity, equity, and inclusion, and will continue to strive to make LCC a better, more welcoming school community.

We strongly encourage students to seek out emotional support, if needed, from counselors and PALs.

SDUHSD Board Passes Resolution Written by ASB Presidents

ASB Co-Presidents Andrew Baum and Shane Baum authored a gun violence prevention resolution that was included on the SDUHSD Board of Trustees agenda at the August 25, 2022 regular meeting. Andrew and Shane defended the resolution after presenting the resolution to the board. The resolution eventually passed unanimously (3-0) after slight adjustments to specific wording. The resolution is the first public-written resolution in district history.

Andrew and Shane were featured in The San Diego Union-Tribune community news, the Encinitas Advocate, and The Coast News.

New Members Welcomed at Annual Retreat

The student body Executive Board hosted its annual summer retreat at La Quinta Resort and Club in Palm Springs, California between July 27 and July 29.

Members were welcomed through the program’s onboarding process, which included written agreements, committee assignments, class deliberations, fundraiser brainstorming, and finance orientation.

The board also announced its new committee chairs. Andrew Baum, Emma Bambe and Reese Silcox chair the communications committee. Abbey Baum and Emma Gutierrez lead the marketing subcommittee. Ava Ohnstad and Selena Tsai chair the engagement subcommittee.

Renee Roesler and Mia DiGiulio head the student programming committee. Sasha Bell chairs the community outreach committee and Shayne Barnhill and Tatum Vercoe lead the student wellness committee. Shane Baum will lead the new select governance and oversight committee.
